Andy Whitfield thanks fans for their support

Andy Whitfield has thanked fans for supporting him after he discovered he had cancer.

Filming for the second season of Whitfield's show Spartacus: Blood And Sand was postponed earlier this year when the actor was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Whitfield has now written a message to Spartacus devotees on the official forum.

"To all of you incredibly generous human beings, who have supported, cared and collectively shared your stories, well-wishes and inspiring words, all of which have had a profound and moving impact on me," he said. "Your time, energy and compassion have been the lift needed to glide over some of the bumpy terrain of the last few months. Thank you."

Whitfield revealed that he is currently preparing to film the second season of Spartacus.

"I am now training again and hungry to reunite with the fantastic cast and crew," he said. "After this unexpected challenge but truly rewarding chapter, I have emerged feeling stronger, with a greater focus, commitment and passion and even more profound love of my family and friends."

He added: "I am very grateful for the extraordinary journey that was season one and now, after my own personal shake-up, am even more determined and passionately committed to having season two be very special again. Thank you all again for your ongoing support."

Starz recently announced the cast for the upcoming Spartacus prequel, which will feature Whitfield in two episodes.

Lee Pace and Stark Sands Join the Pilot for HBO’s The Miraculous Year

We’ve had intermittent reports this year on the HBO pilot for The Miraculous Year, described as “an examination of a New York family as seen through the eyes of a charismatic, self-destructive Broadway composer.” We know that Kathryn Bigelow — fresh off her Academy Award win for The Hurt Locker — will helm the pilot, and the cast has filled out rather nicely with Eddie Redmayne, Norbert Leo Butz, Hope Davis, Frank Langella, and Patti LuPone. Now EW has word that Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies), Linus Roache (Law & Order), and Stark Sands (Generation Kill) have joined the cast, though details on their specific characters were not mentioned.

HBO certainly doesn’t show any signs of slowing down their delivery of top-notch cable television. Bringing in Bigelow to direct the pilot should kick start The Miraculous Year with a bang, and until then Martin Scorsese’s Boardwalk Empire should be quite a satisfying series to sink our teeth into if the fantastic trailer is any indication of the show’s quality. As far as the new cast additions go, I’m most looking forward to see Lee Pace find a fantastic new series after Pushing Daisies was unfortunately cancelled a little while back.

True Blood's Hot Gay Vampire-Shape Shifter Shower Scene

If you didn't see last night's premiere of True Blood, do not watch the above clip or read any further. For the rest of you, remember the teasing gay motel scene?

Nooooo! All that buzz about Bill and Sam hooking up turns out to just be a dream, at least so far. The attraction is explained away by Sam having some of Bill's blood in him, and because this is Vampire World, that means sexual orientation goes out the window because anyone's who's fed from a vamp has some erotic connection to him forever.

But let's all pause for a moment to appreciate the "Arkansas water is very … hard" joke.

Ryan McPartlin on CHUCK'S Season Finale

If Chuck is cancelled, it doesn't sound like this season's finale, just like last year's, will offer a satisfying conclusion to the series. In a recent interview, McPartlin ("Captain Awesome" himself) had this to say.

PW: Earlier in the season Awesome toyed with taking Ellie to Africa before changing his mind — but I could have sworn I saw a jungle and tiger in this promo. What gives?
Ryan: You might see Ellie and Awesome going to Africa. There's some pretty cool stuff coming up. The writers and production team went all out — the next couple of episodes really take us through to the end of the season and introduce a new element of suspense and cliffhangers.

PW: So there are cliffhangers?
Ryan: Yea, they had to try and match last year and I think they've done a good job. Hopefully they can keep one-upping themselves if we get another season. There's a bunch of Ring stuff you'll never see coming. Just when you think its predictable, they throw in a killer twist.

PW: That's an interesting choice since "Chuck's" future is still up in the air. Do you think they did that to not give NBC an easy out?
Ryan: They definitely didn't want to let people off too easily. There is a moment in the season finale when you think we're wrapping up everything nice and neat. That's when we pull the rug out from underneath you.

PW: Are you frustrated to be back in this boat of not knowing if you'll be back for a fourth season?
Ryan: Of course it's a little frustrating to be back where we were a year ago. It's not a comment on the show — I think we're doing great work — it's more of a comment on the state of network TV. You can see why Conan went to cable. At the same time, NBC has been very supportive the whole time, but I think now especially they need to not look at the brand — not the ratings — and figure out what kind of network they want to be. I think "Chuck" would be a great cornerstone of that brand.

Sources confirm to me exclusively that producers have recruited relative newcomer Grey Damon to join the season 5 cast in the series regular of Hastings Ruckle, a sexy, laid back basketball player who ends up joining the Lions as a wide receiver.

The casting breakdown for the role called for a “super, super hot guy who must be over 6 feet tall with a strong athletic build.” The character possesses a “dark, hippie, party-guy vibe,” per the notice, “and kids — especially girls — gravitate to him because he seems not to care too much.”

Damon, whose credits include guest stints on Greek, Lincoln Heights, and 90210, is one of several new characters FNL is bringing in to help fill the void life by departing vets Zach Gilford, Taylor Kitsch, and Jesse Plemmons. (;___;)
